Cecilia Lesho graduated from vocational college with a certificate in Business Administration in 2014. She has over four years of experience in social community development through her work with the Baptist International School in Mbala and is currently working with the Bakashana Organization. Cecilia has attended several trainings on reproductive health led by the Campaign for Female Education and the US Peace Corps, with whom she has worked as facilitator and mentor at their Girls Leading Our World Camps since 2011. Cecilia is the founder and mentor for several girls’ clubs, which focus conversations around reproductive and sexual health for students. She also currently works as the director of outreach and advocacy with Bakashana and is a first-year student at the Information Communication University distance-learning program specializing social work and development. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Cecilia plans to continue working at Bakashana while continuing to expand the number of girls’ clubs. Cecilia understands first-hand the value of youth and community development services and believes that society can only grow stronger if we help one another.
