Alina Zhuwawo has over four years’ experience in community development, focusing on housing and sanitation, workplace harassment, and domestic violence. Alina is currently working as a research assistant for Mrs. D. Mhako in the University of Zimbabwe’s Department of Theatre Arts. She researches theories on gender activism, conducts interviews with relevant personnel, and designs project proposals. Alina is currently managing her own project, focused on fostering confidence and self-reliance in domestic violence and rape victims through dance, physical theatre, and self-defense training. Alina holds a Bachelors of Arts with honors in Theatre Arts. She is driven by her commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Alina intends to expand her projects to help more women in Zimbabwe.
