You will have access to any of the dining halls on campus, as well as any markets that are open.  You can also eat at local downtown Boone restaurants or bring lunch with you. 

Most of your classes, workshops and trainings will be held on Appalachian's campus in the student union, library, or Reich College of Education building. Plemmons Student Union is home to OIED, and offers Cascade's cafe, a coffee shop, the University bookstore, a computer lab, and many spaces to study and/or relax. Belk Library has a coffee shop, the University writing center, and 5 floors of study space. Please use this campus map to learn where you're dorm is in relation to these spaces.

You will be staying in a dorm on campus for the entirety of the program.

In the United States, the number for emergency police is 9-1-1. If you're on campus, the campus police is 828-262-8000. Always call 9-1-1 first, then contact someone in OIED. You will be provided with a list of emergency contacts upon arrival.

Electric Power is standard throughout the United States. It is set at 110 volts and 60 cycles. Please review this guide to determine what kind of adapter you'll need.

If you are taking prescription medication, you may want to bring sufficient supplies for the duration of the Fellowship and pack them in your carry-on. Please refer to your Fellow handbook for more information.

Yes, you will have internet access on Appalachian State's campus. ASU offers wireless internet access in all buildings. For more information about the internet access, please visit www.wireless.appstate.edu 

You will be in Boone in June/July. The average summer high for these months is 76-79 degrees Farenheit (24-26 degrees celcius) and the average low is 54-58 F (12-14 C). Weather in Boone can change quickly, so we recommend bringing clothing that you can layer as it's typically cooler in the morning and evening hours. Good resources for Boone weather are Ray's Weather Center, The Weather Channel and US Climate Data.

 No. You will be provided transportation for any scheduled events, and will have access to the bus system for travel within Boone.

The Town of Boone offers a free bus service called AppalCart. Appalcart offers 12 free bus routes in Boone with several shelters on Appalachian's campus. For more information including route information and shelter location, please visit the Appalcart website.

All dorms offer full laundry facilities. Use of machines will be covered during your orientation. 

Yes. We will provide all cookware and utensils.
