Deadline for nominations is Monday, October 20, 2025.

Purpose: To promote global knowledge, intercultural skills, and global citizenship and outreach for our campus community. This award recognizes extraordinary contributions of students who have initiated, developed and/or supported opportunities for global learning.  This year’s prize will include a plaque.

Eligibility

• Nominee must be a current App State student.
• Nominee cannot have been an award recipient in the past.
• Self-nominations are discouraged.

Guidelines

• The awards committee will look for students who have demonstrated excellence as a global ambassador or global citizen.
  • As a global ambassador, this student has demonstrated significant leadership linking activities away from the App State campus to increased global awareness in the App State community.
  • As a global citizen, this student has demonstrated significant leadership on the App State campus to increased global awareness in the App State community.

Criteria options

1. Globalize the campus and community environment. For example, international festivals, global communities in the residence halls, utilizing technology for internationalization, supporting international students on campus and in the community, outreach to schools and local community, involvement in global conferences and arts events etc.
2. Leadership in global learning opportunities for students. For example, short–term overseas programs, study abroad, student service learning, internships, research, etc.
3. Build or sustain global partnerships.
4. Research and scholarship with a global emphasis.
5. Other activities that promote global knowledge, intercultural skills, or global citizenship.
