OIED welcomes new Director of Education Abroad, Chrissie Faupel

Chrissie Faupel HeadshotThe Office of International Education and Development is pleased to welcome a new Director of Education Abroad, Ms. Chrissie Faupel. Faupel began work virtually on May 4. 

Faupel served most recently as the Assistant Director for Study Abroad at the University of South Carolina. She has worked in international education since 2012, including serving as a preventative health educator for the U.S. Peace Corps. She brings a wealth of experience and expertise in education abroad work to Appalachian.

“I am very pleased to welcome Chrissie Faupel. It is great to have her join our team," said Jesse Lutabingwa, Associate Vice Chancellor for International Education and Development. "She has hit the ground running under difficult circumstances.” 

Faupel holds an MA in International Education from SIT Graduate Institute and is currently pursuing a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of South Carolina. 

“It’s an honor for me to join the App State family. The Office of International Education and Development has achieved so much on campus and around the world and I am pleased to join their ranks,” said Faupel.
