Incoming exchange students cannot register themselves for Appalachian courses from overseas. The Office of International Education and Development coordinates registration in collaboration with the different departments. An official transcript is required to determine whether students have met the requirements to enroll in specific courses.
To help us better assist students; program coordinators for exchange students should please verify their students have submitted a complete application with a COPY OF THEIR PASSPORTS, and the ORIGINAL and the ENGLISH TRANSLATION (if applicable) of their official graduate and undergraduate transcripts.
Regardless of their degree program at their home institution, all exchange students MUST be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credits for undergraduate students and 9 graduate credits for graduate students, usually the equivalent of 4 courses for undergraduates and 3 courses for graduates. Enrollment in preferred courses is not guaranteed. It is subject to departmental approval, availability of courses, capacity, and prerequisites.
Students MUST submit a list of preferred courses preferably Seven OR MORE and a list of alternative courses just in case some of the preferred courses are not offered or are full. Having the alternative courses helps us work more efficiently on registration.
Exchange students will meet with an advisor from The Office of International Education and Development regarding their course registration during the week of orientation.
