Global Leadership Award: Faculty and Staff

One (1) faculty member and one (1) staff member will be recognized for a total of two (2) faculty/staff awards. 

Purpose: To promote global knowledge, intercultural skills, and global citizenship for our students and the campus community. This award recognizes extraordinary contributions of faculty and staff who have initiated, developed and/or supported opportunities for global learning.  This year’s prizes will include travel grants for the winners to continue their global work.

Eligibility

  • Current full time EHRA & SHRA staff and faculty are eligible to be nominated for the Global Leadership Award. 
  • Nominee cannot have been an award recipient in the previous five years.
  • Members of the Global Symposium Planning Committee and OIED staff/faculty are not eligible to be nominated.
  • Self-nominations are discouraged.

Guidelines

  • Evidence of sustained engagement in global learning is an important criterion for a strong nomination
  • The awards committee will look for excellence in global contributions in the context of one or more of the following criteria

Criteria options

  1. Internationalize the campus and community environment. For example, international festivals, global communities in the residence halls, developing technology for internationalization, supporting international students on campus and in the community organizing conferences with global themes on campus, bringing international visitors to the area, outreach to schools and local community, etc.
  2. Expand global learning opportunities for students. For example, short–term overseas programs, study abroad, curricular development, student service learning, internships, research, etc.
  3. Build or sustain global partnerships. For example, initiate and/ or maintain institutional partnership, host families, faculty or student exchanges, collaborative projects, etc.
  4. Research and scholarship with a global emphasis. For example, faculty development, grant writing, publication, presentation, conference organization, mentoring students in international research, etc.
  5. Other activities that promote global knowledge, intercultural skills, or global citizenship.
