Lillian Nave - 2022 Global Leadership Award Winner

2022 Faculty Award - Lillian Nave

Lillian Nave is the faculty recipient of the Global Leadership Awards. Lillian has deep roots in global education. In January 2017 and 2018, she took two groups of students to Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, as part of a one-credit hour study abroad experience for students who had taken a seminar with her in the previous fall. During this trip, the students saw what they read about, namely the experiences during WWII of the so-called “Monuments Men,” who saved art from destruction at the hands of the Nazis.

Lillian also served as a faculty learning partner on an international ASE trip with App State students to Peru during which students volunteered at a shelter for battered women and children.

Lillian currently serves as Senior Lecturer and Inclusive Excellence Liaison for the First Year Seminar Program, Coordinator of the VITAL (which stands for Visiting, Instructors, Adjunct, and Lecturer) Faculty Community, Coordinator of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning for Student Success, and Host of the Think UDL podcast series. Lillian’s courses also include explorations of peace studies, art dialogues across cultures, and intercultural competence. Lillian also teaches a FYS course entitled “Intercultural Dialogues,” and has also worked with OIED to connect her FYS students with students abroad virtually, and with our visiting TEA fellows when they have been on campus.

In addition, she is also focusing on creating leadership and professional development opportunities for all INTAPP members. And on top of running INTAPP this year, she also served a grant assistant for the TEA Fellows program this fall.
